Bonnaroo: Day Two
If we were maybe six inches taller, the sight of David Byrne in a tutu at the Which stage may have been the highlight of our Friday evening. However, we are not, so it was most definitely Phish and dancing to Oakenfold at 4 a.m. To back up for a moment, the essence of Bonnaroo Friday was ...running. The sampler plate to a full meal, if you will.We started with Gomez under a tree, then on to Dirty Projectors, and Animal Collective into Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Karen O most definitely woke up the hungover, sunburnt crowd by jumping up and down for an hour and a half. Girl has some serious leg muscles. They killed it with selections on new album It's Blitz! and oldies like "Maps" and "Y Control". Maps was flubbed at first, but then decided to do it acoustic. Good call - it was beautiful.
Later that night the Beasties brought out Nas - all while we were sardined for Byrne. Next, over to Phish for the late night, 3 hour set. Sadly, we missed Phoenix, but hey, they're playing NYC Thursday and Friday.
Late night brought sets from Girl Talk (so so so so packed) and Oakenfold. Did we mention this is only Friday?
