What inspired this collection? The colors from Elizabeth Payton paintings, Woodstock, and Karen Arnold, who played Kevin's older sister on The Wonder Years. I always loved her free spirited ways.
Is there a certain girl who embodies this collection?
A modern hippie; a woman who is fearless and passionate.
Can you explain your design process?
Color is always the start of the collection for me. I begin with indulging myself in art; galleries, books, photos, etc. I then build the story that will create the feel of the collection. Every thing that inspires me, or the girl I am designing for is put on the wall size cork board directly across from my desk. I then work with artists, one being my brother to create the prints for the collection. Lastly, I create the silhouettes that will have the prints come to life. It is me and my design assistant Alexi Rennalls, who do all of the designing, while my dog Sam pounces around the office.
What were some of your favorite Spring 2010 collections?
Chanel, a chic country life in Paris; Karl never fails to keep you entertained. Basso + Brooke, neo pop prints, my eyes were mesmerized. Stella McCartney, I always want to be the girl in her runway shows wearing easy breezy colorful frocks. And Moschino; always a playful runway show. Cherries, hearts, and pearls what's a girl not to love.
Did you listen to any specific albums while working on this collection?
Janis Joplin (Box of Pearls), Joni Mitchell (Big yellow Taxi), The Easy Rider soundtrack, and Led Zeppelin.
Three things you can’t live without?
Chocolate, Ipod, and my wood burning fire place.
Top three fashion blogs?
The Satorialist, The Fashionista, and Because Im Addicted.
