Gen Art invites the best new design talent in womenswear, menswear and accessories to show their lines free of charge. Designers debuted by Gen Art include Zac Posen, Rebecca Taylor, Chaiken, Rodarte, Louis Verdad, Milly, Philip Lim, Twinkle by Wenlan, Duckie Brown, Geren Ford, Sari Gueron & Shoshanna.

Gen Art show draws strong industry support with Host Committee members and Judges such as Cynthia Rowley, Diane Von Furstenberg, Todd Oldham, Kate Spade, and Betsey Johnson, and top modeling agencies including IMG Models, Next Model Management and New York Models. Gen Art also produces Business of Fashion seminars with the CFDA, networking events and serves as industry and resource referrals.

10TH ANNIVERSARY STYLES RUNWAY & AWARDS SHOW

On May 19th, Gen Art celebrated its 10th Anniversary Styles Show before 1,500+ guests at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

On hand were master of ceremonies stylist and fashion commentator Robert Verdi and award presenters actress Sophia Bush and Project Runway runner-up Kara Saun. Also in attendance were Miss Universe Riyo Mori and Miss Teen USA Hilary Cruz, socialite Casey Johnson, songwriter Matt White, and designers including Richie Rich ("Heatherette"), Lulu Frost and Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll.

UNCOVER/DISCOVER

On October 22nd Gen Art and Biore unveiled the winner of the Uncover/Discover fashion competition at a multi-discipline showcase at The Art Director’s Club in New York. Womenswear designer Ardistia was presented with the coveted award of $20,000 and her work was featured in a Grecian goddess-themed installation at the Biore Uncover/Discover event.

Indonesian born Ardistia Dwiasri worked with Diane Von Furstenberg, Gap and Ann Taylor before starting her own line in 2006. Ardistia was also a finalist in the ready-to-wear category in Gen Art Styles 2007 International Design Competition and Runway show.

In preparation, Gen Art reached out across the nation for the best new female fashion designer. After reviewing hundreds of submissions, we narrowed the group down to six semi-finalists who were posted on the competition website www.bioregenart.com. Over 15,000 votes were cast by visitors to the site, determining the three finalists. Sally Tseng, Sunei Kim and Ardistia. The three finalists were evaluated by a jury of prominent members of the fashion industry, including Ann Watson, Fashion Director of Henri Bendel, Cameron Silver of Decades, designer Norma Kamali, stylist Mary Alice Stephenson, and designer Isabel Toledo who chose one winner from the national outreach for talent.


THE NEW GARDE

Gen Art’s newest and wildly successful fashion program The New Garde will take place during New York fashion week in early February and Los Angeles in March. The New Garde is a fashion presentation featuring the Fall collections of three emerging designers in separate installations with live models wearing looks from each designer over a two-hour period.

This program has launched the careers of avant-garde designers Jeffrey Sebelia and Kit Pistol, (both of Project Runway fame), Geren Ford and FORM by Jerry Tam.

GEN ART STYLES 2007 WINNERS:

On May 22, Gen Art and Eos Airlines presented Styles 2007 Runway & Awards Show before 1,700 guests at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Hosted by Robert Verdi of E! Fashion Police, the winners were chosen by a judging panel of influential industry members including Liya Kebede, designers Cynthia Rowley, John Bartlett, Trina Turk, Bill Blass' Michael Vollbracht, retailer Jeffrey Kalinsky, IMG's Fern Mallis and Elle Style Director, Isabel Dupre.
